Dumfries and Galloway LEADER are delighted to announce the 2013 participating Day of the Region communities for this final year of the currently funded 'Day of the Region; Dumfries and Galloway' Project.

This year will be the biggest yet, with 10 communities from across rural Dumfries and Galloway taking part and is being sponsored by SRUC: CROCKETFORD, DUNDRENNAN, KIRKCONNEL, KELLOHOLM, LOCHMABEN, MOFFAT, PENPONT, KEIR, TYNRON and SANQUHAR!

Dumfries and Galloway LEADER Programme have confirmed the celebration of rural community life will be launched in participating communities on Friday 4th October with the 'Day of the Region' being Saturday 5th October.

Already, local volunteer co-ordinators are planning a variety of activities and events which will be delivered as part of the Day of the Region celebration here in Dumfries and Galloway including; ceilidh dancing, arts and crafts sessions, food and drink, film shows, guided walks, cycle routes, heritage trails, concerts, mini tattoos, youth group promotions, community calendars, dog training, folk music, DJ sets, flower shows, fishing skills, sheep dog displays, dance lessons, zumba, holistic therapies, camera lessons, family photographs, comedy night, drama workshops ........and even belly dancing! Organisers are keen to ensure that there is something for all ages, abilities and interests and encourage you to get involved and be part of it over the coming months to ensure there is something for everyone.

As well as sponsorship from the SRUC, Day of the Region will be supported by the newly formed Crichton Institute.
